Denton
March 25 – On Mayors and Presidents
Why Should I Care About Local Politics?
Believing in the Beauty and Potential of Denton

Consider these things:

– The average voting age in Denton city elections is 61 even though the city’s median age is 26.

– Political ideologies are reared solely through an awareness of national-level discussions.  We struggle to understand how the terms liberal or conservative apply to local issues.

– Your choice of President might impact something directly in your life in the next four years.  Your choice of Mayor could mean the difference between your neighborhood park and a parking lot.

As we move into another season of Denton city elections, it is worth pausing to consider the value of local engagement.  We’ll use the night to discuss your thoughts about our beautiful city, to get people registered to vote, and to mobilize people onto greater civic awareness and activity.
